Description

The vasa gene has been found to be conserved in a diverse range of Metazoans. Studies of vasa indicate it has an essential role in germline development. However, the exact mechanism and functions of vasa are unknown, possibly due to differences in expression in different species. Using tardigrades as a laboratory model, this research project aims to further our understanding in germline development and evolution.
