Description

We are particularly interested in the gene that causes neural tube malformation. Based on epithelial tube morphogenesis similarities, we can use Drosophila melanogaster as a model for vertebrate neural tube formation. This genetic research will allow us to find the enhancer gene to further characterize the Idgf pathway. This is particularly important based on the effect of Idgf3 overexpression and its results on dorsal appendage malformation.
