Description

Abstract

The title of the online journal “International Dialogues on Education: Past and Present” (IDE) indicates a broad thematic orientation for investigations of educational events from historical, international, intercultural and comparative perspectives. The journal is relevant for education scholars and pedagogical practitioners but also for representatives from adjacent areas of the humanities and social-sciences fields. IDE publishes contributions from historical perspectives or those focused on most recent trends. This includes articles which can be highly theoretical in describing global processes or papers that point to the effects of globalization on national or local pedagogical activities and examples of practice.

These orientations and, in particular, the trilingualism (English, German, Russian) of IDE’s publications are the “unique selling points” which contribute to the dialogues between three important languages and thus three scientific publication traditions and singularities. It helps to overcome language barriers in international perceptions and the marginalization or non-note-taking of documented research in certain languages.

The purpose of this presentation is to discuss some special editorial challenges during the communication and cooperation process between an editorial board and potential authors.
