This conference will explore the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of work. SPU faculty will lead plenary sessions—on the latest developments in AI, the ethical impacts of AI, and writing with AI—as well as professional tracks focused on business, education, health professions, psychology, and ministry.

1:00-1:10 p.m.: Welcome, Rebekah Rice, PhD, Professor and Chair of Philosophy

1:10-1:50 p.m.: “The Current State of AI,” Carlos Arias, PhD, Associate Professor and Chair of Computer Science

1:50-2:30 p.m.: "Algorithms and Ethics: Considerations on the Ethical Aspects of AI,” Leland Saunders, PhD, Professor of Philosophy

2:30-2:45 p.m.: Break

2:45-3:10 p.m.: “The Impacts of AI in the Workplace: Fireside Chats with SPU Alumni,” moderated by Rebekah Rice, PhD, Professor and Chair of Philosophy

3:10-3:50 p.m.: “Writing with AI,” Traynor Hansen, PhD, Assistant Professor of English and Director of Campus Writing

3:50-4:00 p.m.: Closing Remarks, Rebekah Rice, PhD, Professor and Chair of Philosophy
