Description

  1. “No Going Back to Normal: The Digital Reformation of the Church”

Although many leaders agree that “going back to normal” is not an option even after physical spaces can re-open what the future looks like remains unclear. How can churches make the most of the digital reformation that is taking place in response to covid-19?

In this breakout, Chris Lim will facilitate a discussion on how God is using technology and the catalyst of this pandemic to reform the Church. We will ideate ways our churches can shift from being a product to a platform that aligns with God’s purpose and brainstorm practical ways to integrate digital, local, personal and communal experiences into a holistic ‘Way’ of following Jesus in these times.

Facilitated by Chris Lim, Project Consultant and Founder of TheoTech

  2. “Spiritual Formation and Digital Technology”

We will explore a few theological frameworks for Christian faith formation and how these intersect with a digital technology platform. We’ll discuss the blessings and challenges of engaging in intentional faith formation via technology. And together ask and answer: what is God’s invitation to us in this season of social distancing? And how best can we grow and lead others to growth in Christ using the tools of technology?

Facilitated by Celeste Cranston, Director of the Center for Biblical and Theological Education, Seattle Pacific University

Reverend Celeste Cranston is an ordained elder in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Free Methodist (FM) Church and serves as Director of Seattle Pacific University’s (SPU) Center for Biblical and Theological Education. At SPU Celeste oversees several programs, including “SoulCare” which provides Wesleyan Class Meetings (based on the question “How goes it with your soul?”) for Seattle Pacific Seminarians, as well as Wesleyan Small Groups for over 600 undergraduate students each year. Celeste has served as part of the FM conference Executive Team, on the conference Ministerial and Education Guidance board, the conference Nominating Committee, and on SPU’s “Tent-City 3” Task Force, Campus Ministry Task Force, and Ministry Council. Celeste served for 16 years at Lakeview Free Methodist Church as Associate Pastor, Director of the Women’s Shelter, and Director of Adult Ministries and Music. She and her husband Gary have two adult children and two children by marriage.

  3. “Best Practices for Digital Education”

This session is a chance to hear some tips from our experience of digital education in general and in response to COVID-19, share lessons we learned, discuss reponses, and ask questions that you’d like the project to address or consider A discussion on neighborhood parish ministry and partnership in our digital moment.

Facilitated by R. John Robertson, Director of Educational, Technology, and Media, Seattle Pacific University

As the Digital Education Librarian, John serves as the director of SPU’s Educational Technology and Media department. John joined SPU three years ago. Prior to this he was an instructional designer, an eportfolio specialist, and researcher on projects relating to open educational resources, repositories, metadata, and digital libraries. Before this he studied theology twice.

  4. "Decision-Making in a Digitally Transformed Church"

We will explore, in the “After COVID-19 Era,“ how churches and higher governing bodies will come to make decisions and share information. What changes can we anticipate? And how will these changes impact churches?”

Facilitated by Dave Hackett, Director, MENA Region, visionSynergy

  5. “Equipping Churches for Lay Leadership and Vocational Integration”

As church activities shift from physical spaces to multi-site / online we have an unprecedented opportunity to lean into vocational integration: equipping every saint to use their gifts for the Gospel where they are. The pandemic has broken traditional sacred/secular divides leading us to re-evaluate how our churches can support and unleash the laity in their calling from God. Join this discussion about how our churches can activate greater lay leadership during and after the pandemic.

    Facilitated by Jessica Zistatsis

Jessica Zistatsis (BS & MS, Mechanical Engineering, University of Washington) is a mechanical engineer and quality manager at Orthocare Innovations, a rehabilitation device R&D company in Edmonds, WA. Her current vocational calling is to create prosthetic devices that enable individuals with limb differences to achieve their greatest mobility potential in order that they might best live out their own callings. After attending KIROS for a year, Jessica helped launch the new KIROS Young Professionals chapter. Jessica attends Sound City Bible Church in Lynnwood, and in her free time enjoys hiking, swing dancing, and singing.
