The DeShazer family returns to Japan in 1959. They begin a new church in their home in Nagoya, the city Jacob bombed as a Doolittle Raider. Jacob and Florence continue to take Japanese lessons and serve in their home church each Sunday, while working around Japan (Jacob) and raising a family (Florence). Both Florence's sister Phyllis and Jacob's sister Helen come to visit in 1961. Jacob attends the 1962 Doolittle Reunion in California. A new church building is completed in Nagoya in 1963 and is named the Moriyama Church, allowing the DeShazers to move services from their home to the new building. Later in 1963, the DeShazers return to the United States for a furlough.
