Description

Social media is a growing mode of communication and entertainment among emerging generations, exponentially decreasing in-person interactions. Research suggests increased usage may hinder relationship satisfaction. A survey of various self-report measures will be distributed via social media site advertisements and therapeutic practices. Sample will consist of 50 couples cohabitating one year, or more. This study will examine the effect of social media usage on relationship satisfaction. ANOVA will be used to examine our hypothesis of higher social media usage negatively correlating to relationship satisfaction and intimacy in couples. Results may provide couples and therapists with an understanding on how to increase satisfaction in a digitally-oriented world.
