Description
Due to their medical experiences, many teens with cancer experience altered normal development and are therefore impacted socially, physically, and emotionally. They lack regular connection with peers which can lead to feelings of loneliness and despair (Cassano et al., 2008). Group therapy would allow for these children who are sharing a unique experience of cancer, to partake in a normal adolescent experience of socializing with same age peers. This proposal is interested to see if a relational group therapy approach would improve mood and increase self-efficacy of adolescents undergoing active cancer treatment.
