Description
Why do people say green words, yet lack these same attitudes when it comes to the application of green behavior? We developed a laboratory procedure to measure the degree to which pro-environmental attitudes decrease when behavioral follow-through on one's attitudes is required; furthermore, we wanted to measure whether guilt and shame moderate this effect. Preliminary results from our study (n = 14) do not yet reveal differences in attitude between the follow-thorough and control categories. However, since the study is still in its preliminary stages, the sample size will continue to increase.
