Description

The risk for suicide increases when an individual is placed into custody by a law enforcement entity. Few studies have looked at the unique risk factors for custody in ICE detention facilities. Polarizing policies by different administrations has put the issue of immigration on the forefront. This study aims to find factors related to untimely deaths in ICE custody with a special focus on days from detention till death, medical history, and location detained. This is a cursory qualitative look which will lead to more research on the same population with the goal of improving conditions for those in custody.
