Description

The Pogonomyrmex genus of ants are known to use chemical trails to recruit fellow worker ants in gathering from discovered food sources. However, current literature has not explored whether chemical trails leading to food sources of varying concentrations will influence the decisions of Pogonomyrmex ants. Our research seeks to determine whether chemical trail cues associated with varying food concentrations will influence decision making in Pogonomyrmex occidentalis ants.
