Description

This study will explore the effectiveness of group music therapy as a non-behavioral treatment method of post-traumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents. Sample of 90 subjects between 6 and 18 years old with significant PTSD symptoms will be randomly assigned to a control group or the treatment receiving 10 weeks of group music therapy. Pre- and post-test measures from the Impact of Events Scales-Revised (IES-R) and Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI - II) will assess PTSD symptoms. Data will be analyzed with an ANOVA. It is hypothesized that treatment will decrease the PTSD symptoms and depression symptoms.
