Description

Past studies indicated that changes in delay cause foragers to discount the value of a reward. Few studies have addressed the degree to which changes in risk or probability influences a forager rate of discounting. Given this shortage in the literature, this study explores the effects of changes in reward probability on rat’s (Rattus Rattus) sensitivity to risk and delay. Rats choose between one adjusting delay lever (100% probability) and one constant lever (20% and 50% probability). We expect that as reward probability decreases, a higher rate of delay discounting will occur.
